Sustainability

Why shop sustainable? 'Sustainable' has been a buzzword in fashion since consumers became aware of the harm the industry can bring. We're committed to revolutionary fabrics and materials that bring good instead of harm.

Synthetic fabrics, such as nylon, polyester, and spandex are commonly used in swimwear, due to their stretch and moisture-wicking capabilities. Unfortunately, synthetic swimwear fabrics shed micro-fibers (essentially plastic) into our oceans and contribute to pollution. Without proper waste management, sea animals will mistake these microfibers for food, and choke on them. According to fastcompany.com, an estimated 65 MILLION tons of plastic-based materials are generated each year.

All too often, not only do these suits generate waste, but they are also made from low quality materials that don't last and are thrown away at the end of the summer, only to crowd landfills and never decompose. While some countries resort to burning waste, this only contributes to carbon emissions.

Jilaine Swim is made from a 100% regenerated nylon made from pre and post industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets and more, without the use of non-renewable fossil fuels. Instead of contributing to ocean waste, we are committed to being part of the solution in cleaning the oceans we call home all summer long, while bringing quality luxury bikinis to the market.
